At CCB our focus is investing in our community
Crediton Community Bookshop is an independent and community-owned bookshop - a unique entity in Mid Devon. This social enterprise exists not only as a place to buy books, but as an inspirational hub for all things literary. Through investing in local projects and working with partners from schools and libraries to famous authors, the bookshop acts as a strong and vibrant community resource. Local community members volunteer in a range of roles, including marketing, design, admin, schools outreach and providing tourist & local information for visitors and residents.

Authors & Poets
We have been delighted to host events with many creative and inspiring authors and poets, including our renowned patrons. Nick Arnold of Horrible Science signed books at our first open day and made it a roaring success. Mal Peet did us the honour of officially opening the shop in 2013 and launching his last novel The Murdstone Trilogy at our 2014 AGM. Babette Cole entertained children and adults alike at the launch of her mid-Devon tale James Rabbit and the Giggleberries and also pioneered our literacy workshops with local schoolchildren. Michael Morpurgo delighted queues of people shortly after we moved to our lovely new shop at 21 High Street in 2016.
Workshops, talks & bookgroups
For children we host writing, literacy & creative workshops as well as weekly pre-school story-time sessions and holiday reading groups. Budding writers and illustrators attend our evening workshops and local author fairs.
The team is developing a programme of activities at the shop for adults and children including pre-school story-time, author events, holiday activities, storytelling, reading & writing groups, quizzes & other delights. As well as our shop events we have an award-winning outreach programme for schools and annually host a UKLA shortlist reading and discussion group.
We are proud to be the official booksellers for
