Event Details

To celebrate National Poetry Day, the well known Exeter poets, Lawrence Sail and Anthony Wilson, will be reading their own and others’ poems which chime with this year͛s theme, Freedom.

Anthony Wilson is a poet, writing tutor, blogger and Senior Lecturer at the Graduate School of Education, University of Exeter. His most recent books are Lifesaving Poems (Bloodaxe, 2015), Riddance (Worple Press, 2012) and Love for Now (Impress Books, 2012). He lives and works in Exeter and blogs at

Lawrence Sail, is a freelance writer and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. In addition to twelve books of poems, he has published two books of essays and a memoir of childhood (Sift, Impress Books 2010). He has also edited a number of anthologies, including First and Always (Faber 1988), which raised more than £65,000 for the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Waking Dreams: New & selected Poems (Bloodaxe, 2010) was a Poetry Book Society Special Commendation and his most recent book of poems, The Quick (Bloodaxe)came out in 2015.
