Crediton Big Read

This month we are launching the first ever Crediton Big Read!

We want as many people as possible to get involved in reading books!

So what does it mean?

Look out for these three titles…

Captain Cat and the Treasure Map by Sue Mongredien (illustrated by the bestselling Kate Pankhurst): a new laugh-out-loud story for emerging readers.

The 13-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths (illustrated by Terry Denton): first of the comedy classic, bestselling Treehouse series for readers aged 8-12.

Raven Black by Ann Cleeves: the first novel in the Shetland series (as seen on TV) and winner of the CWA Gold Dagger for Best Crime Novel.

We are giving away hundreds of these books to local schools and leaving copies in shops, doctors’ surgeries, cafes and hairdressers. And of course there will be copies at the bookshop. We invite you to read them and pass them on to others to enjoy.

And that’s not all! Here is the brilliant Big Read celebration line-up for June:

12th June 3.30pm Ann Cleeves will be at the bookshop for a Special Edition Book Group to discuss The Seagull (the latest book in her Vera series)

12th June 7.30pm Ann Cleeves will be in conversation with Anne Oxborough about Raven Black, novel writing, the Shetland TV series and her new book The Long Call

22nd June 10-12 The Gruffalo will be at the bookshop for a meet-and-greet and photo opportunities

22nd June 2.30pm Sue Mongredien will be doing activites, stories and other fun stuff at the Big Read Party (and the Gruffalo is coming too!)

Join in the conversation on Facebook, twitter and Instagram.

We are very grateful to Macmillan Publishing for donating the books, the Crediton Hospital League of Friends for funding the project, and all our local supporters and volunteers who are getting involved and making this project happen. Thank you!
