BOTM APRIL 19_resized

April 2019

Pádraig Kenny

Our BOTM for April is Pog by Pádraig Kenny. Having moved into their dead mother’s childhood home with their father, David and Penny soon discover the presence of Pog in their attic. Pog is a magical creature tasked with protecting the boundary between the worlds.

But when David is drawn into the forest, lured by a darker creature which tells him there’s a way to bring back his mother, the children and Pog discover many monsters to defeat as well as creatures to befriend…

Pog is Pádraig Kenny’s second book for children; his debut, the sci-fi fairy tale Tin, was published in February 2018. Pádraig Kenny is a great supporter of indie bookshops and said, “I’m honoured that Pog has been chosen as the BA Independent Children’s Book of the Month. I’m especially honoured because for me independent book shops throughout Britain and Ireland have always been a refuge, places of real vitality where books aren’t simply sold but where children’s reading is nurtured and valued.”
